PINOT GRIS

Pinot Gris is another mutation of the genetically unstable Pinot Noir and is still struggling to determine if it is in fact a dark or light grape. Skin colors of grey to brownish pink to dark bronze to white are characteristic to the eleven different types of Pinot Gris grown worldwide. Known as Tokay d'Alsace in France, Rulander in Germany and Pinot Grigio in Italy, Pinot Gris has rapidly become one of the white wine treasures of the world. Stylistic differences between the wine regions have given Pinot Gris a unique quality which is characteristic to their appellation. Full bodied, oily textured wines characterize the Tokay d'Alsace style whereas lighter and fizzy is more common with the Italian Grigio.

Here at Oswego Hills, we strive for an intense, vibrant, and clean as a whistle Gris sans the oil and the fizz. Our style creates a wine loaded with flavors of apple, honeydew, pear, citrus, and a light grapefruit finish. Lively acidity with a crisp, refreshing, lengthy finish is the key to Gris. Last year we hit the mark and are ecstatic about the release of our newest vintage. This Pinot Gris has everything we could have asked for and the feedback has indicated we really hit this one out of the park.

Pinot Gris is so versatile and really compliments about any occasion. Whether you are sitting out on your patio during a hot day or serving it with just about any meal, Pinot Gris will fit the bill. Versatility with spicy food, fruits, cheeses, chicken, seafood, pasta, and bread that hurts when you chew it is a perfect match for this lovely wine.
